What is Binge Eating Disorder?

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is an eating disorder that can affect children, teens, and adults. It can develop at any age.

A person with Binge Eating Disorder may struggle with episodes of eating large quantities of food while feeling unable to stop or control it. During a binge eating episode, the person may eat very fast and may eat until they are uncomfortably full. They often experience feelings of shame or embarrassment, and may try to hide what is happening. Binges may happen even if the person is not feeling physically hungry. If you're struggling with binge eating, overeating, or if the way you eat feels out of control, it is important to know that you are not alone and that help is available.
